I was going to post something self-deprecating ... but I saw
the_vulture had a post with a quiz... and I was curious.
I like this much better and I might even have smiled... So thanks, bud, I might be able to sleep, tonight.

happy
I'm back after not having a laptop, being uber busy in my chaotic life and forgetting most of my bookmarked sites... ugh.
ANYWAY...
Quite honestly, I'm not gonna read up on 5 months of missed LJ entries... but also quite honestly, I would to hear from every one of you guys who I follow/follow me to find out what you've been up to, what I've missed, etc.
I'm still with Mike and head over heals in love <3. We're living at his mom's until she recovers from her surgery well enough to go back under... so we're looking at another several months of sticking around, helping her out, keeping the fort, etc...
I bought myself my very own car for the first time ever and I'm super excited! My first car was a lemon I got from my parents (was old and broke down all the time) and my second one was forced upon me by my ex-husband (two months and a half until legally divorced! Woohoo!) who wouldn't let pick my own damn car.
But past is past. Mike is absolutely awesome and perfect for me... We get along famously and are completely on the same page about everything. It's so liberating to finally find someone like that. :)
The TKD gym closed down... Master Thorley's gonna teach part time at a rec center or church basement a few times a week and I'll either go train with him the one day I don't work or I'll train with Master Delisle at JD TKD, where Mike's been working/training.
ZUMBA IS AWESOME. Just sayin'. It totally is.
And I'm hungry... I'm gonna go make myself a sammich.
Let me know how you guys are doing! :)

nervous and excited
I passed my testing on the 16th, and now have my green stripe! *glee*
I had to start my Taegeuk II (Ee Jang) form over, for some reason, which frustrated me to no degree (I blame being really nervous at the thought of sparring). It was weird that I had to start over because A) I know the form inside out... I've even taught it to those who needed to learn it, and B) I aced the Gibon Dongjak II, which I just learned and have more difficulty with.
Oh well...
I started over and did it right. Master Thorley said he couldn't understand why I'd messed it up in the first place. "I know you know your form, I've seen you do it countless times"...
Sparring, by the way, went really well considering it was my second time doing full contact. The first time, I got a back kick to the face, I dunno if I'd mentionned that here or not... FUN TIMES! :D (For the record, it was a very slow, controlled back kick and 100% accidental.)
I might have a video of my form and sparring for you guys soon, if you're interested.
TOMORROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!
Tomorrow I'm going to compete in forms (doing my Taegeuk II again) in Halifax. A bunch of us from Thorley's TKD are going, though I'm the only one (to my knowledge) doing forms, everyone else is fighting. Send me good-luck-and-hey-don't-choke-and-mess-u p-this-time vibes! xD
Which brings me toooooo:
Mike got an invite to be on the card for Night of the Fights, which they're showing after the competition (you even need to buy tickets! *gasp*). Think UFC show, except not UFC... :P So yeah, they turn down the lights, but a few spot lights on one ring and away they go! He'll be fighting in front of about 200ish people, we figure.
He'll be fighting a 5th dan black belt master from PEI, Master Rodney Beaton... Everyone's pretty excited, Master Beaton is quick on his feet, but Mike's got something up his sleeve, too! It will be good! :D
I'll be bringing my laptop along... So I'll update with our post-competition news. :)

Soooo... this has only happened twice... but I had this intense dream this morning and I woke up thinking I was still pregnant.
Actually, last I dreamt it, I woke thinking I was supposed to be about 5 months along and freaked out when my belly was gone...
This time, it was more subtle. (Thank God. Nothing beats waking up thinking a pre-term baby might be in your bed somewhere... *shudder*)
I was dreaming that I'd put my house on the market (which I did, finally), and was about to go out to supper with Mike. I didn't want anything too spicy, though, since "last time, the baby didn't like it" and I put my hand on my belly and gave baby a little scritch... The belly wasn't that big, and in my head, I was about 12 weeks or so, I wasn't showing. I felt baby move, though... which was weird.
Anyway, we were driving somewhere and I fell asleep in the car, luckily (not that it matters 'cause it was a dream, after all), Mike was the one driving. He sung me to sleep rubbing my belly (which, as much as I'd love it, he never does. Sing, I mean)... I remember smiling and drifting off to sleep.
And then I woke up, for real, cuddled up to Mike, him being the big spoon behind me... and his hand was on my belly. I smiled and reached down to his hand, hoping I could give my baby a scritch...
And then I remembered "Oh yeah... Baby's been gone for two months."
...
Oww.

New answering machine message :
Feb. 15th, 2011 | 02:05 pm
"Hi! Elise's answering machine is broken... This is her refrigerator. Please, speak very slowly and I'll stick your message to myself with one of my magnets! Thank you!"
*giggles*
It was a toss up between that one or this one (which I might use next)
"We’re sorry. You have reached an imaginary number. Please rotate your phone 90 degrees to the left and try again. "

I'm testing for my Yellow Belt on the 19th and I'm getting pretty psyched about it! I've been to the level where I am before, but I've never been a yellow belt and I'm excited to learn all the new stuff! :D

The first seven 7 people to respond to this post will get something made by me. First 7 only.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done prior to the end of next year (2011).
- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a mix CD. It may be a poem. I may draw or paint something. I might bake you something make a fridge magnet and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
- Additional caveat: I reserve the right to make something for your kid(s) instead of you.
The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well, if you want me to make something for you. :D

Wow, I hope this one doesn't hurt...
Also, I won bronze at a Taekwondo competition last weekend in Halifax! I was doing forms, not sparring. I went up with two buddies who were competing, too. They were fighting, Mike got bronze, too and Corey got gold. It was pretty awesome!
Yeaaaaaaah... life has been... interesting. Full of surprises, anyway.
I'll try and keep you posted, but... *shrug*
:)
LOVE!!

Just spent the day at hospital with my pregnant friend... Sadly, and due to random, unwanted circumstances, she is no longer pregnant... or at least, the Doc says, chances are, she isn't...
I'm staying with her at her place until her boyfriend arrives, tomorrow... No one should be alone after losing the baby they so wanted. </3
Also, dear all Monctonians who think hurricane Earl was a joke; go to Halifax and tell THEM that. Just 'cause we only got winds and rain doesn't mean that's all Earl had to offer. Be mindful of those who lost loved ones because of the 'oh-so-stupid little hurricane".
Thank you.
*siiiiiiiiiigh*

Alright, Mr
the_vulture man! I will update! =P
Let's see... what's happened in the last few weeks...
- A friend of mine got pregnant and lost it. I felt horrible and wished I could just hold her and make her feel better.
- I thought I might be pregnant (and kinda felt bad because of said friend's loss) but wasn't after all.
- I gave the dog I was babysitting back... and I really miss her. :(
- I gaveTango, my awesome and well-loved parrot to a friend of mine for several reasons that felt more like excuses. I feel like a horrible birdie-mom to him... but he's well loved where he is, now. :)
- Ryan got an emergency appendectomy on a weekend when I was supposed to be gone, but decided to stay home an extra night... Go intuition!
- We got Goose, another little budgie to keep Maverick company. Yes, Maverick and Goose. They both fly.
- Another friend of mine IS pregnant (about 7-8 weeks) and asked me to be the godmother, as loose a term as it is for both of us... This makes me happy. (She had lost her first pregnancy, too, 3 years ago... and I did hold her through it.)
- I brought Mav to the vet (an hour ago) because she has a weird growth on the top of her beak, by her eye... not much we can do, but the vet'll get me ointment and some oral meds to give her twice a day... not looking forward to it.
- I just found out the job I've been eyeing for months probably will have positions to fill very soon... and I want it.
Aaaaaaaaaaand.... yeah. I think that's about it.
It's been a pretty eventful few weeks, I guess. But it seems to try and even itself out... =/
Comments? Questions? =P

Dave Carroll (United Breaks Guitars) - review
Jul. 15th, 2010 | 05:49 pm
I also thought I could deal with two hours of live country music if I got to hear United breaks guitars, but I’d be really sad if I didn’t. For the record? I am not a country girl.
I will happily clear this up right off the bat; his music is a well rounded, healthy mix of folk, soft rock a hint of country. A sprinkle of jazz for good measure, too. I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of twang and ‘she stole my heart, my truck and my dog’ lifeless type lyrics.
The play list included songs for every type. Humorous lyrics that had you grinning from ear to ear in his song The death of ol’ Papi, where his poor dad unknowingly eats rotten chicken left in the fridge accidentally for 6 weeks and dies (The chicken is based on true events… but his dad’s ok!). Or even Give me a reason where he sings to his girlfriend about how he’ll be the first to bail if she gives him just one reason to run, and he’s just waiting by the door for it. Not all songs were meant to be funny, though, A woman like you is a love song to his wife so sweet that Disney princesses are glaring at their Prince Charmings saying “All you did for me was slay a stupid dragon.”, equally as touching was Even more tomorrow, a song for his son about how he will always be there with him and will love him “more today, and even more tomorrow”. My husband will curse him for giving my biological clock a good winding with that one!
Lyrics were as impressive in songs like Easy come, Easy go or The place that I call home. Another favourite of mine was the song Now, about living in the moment and not looking too far ahead or sticking too far behind. “Now’s never been, and now never ends. All of your answers are waiting for you here” (my apologies if I’ve misquoted).
Every single piece had me tapping my foot or refraining from dancing like a fool on my chair… or at least trying. In all honesty, the only song that didn’t do it for me wasn’t even his. It was Bruce Sprinsteen’s “I’m on Fire”. I always thought that song was creepy… but he sung it very nicely, nonetheless.
I talked to Dave and shook his hand, got a picture with him. Now all that’s left if to do copy the songs from his Perfect Blue CD (which I bought) to my iPod. I hope I find his other CD soon, too, ’cause I’ll be buying that one in a heartbeat!
*If you haven’t heard of United Breaks Guitars, you can find the story and the videos here. Sadly, it is based on a true story.
(You can view this and other reviews by myself and other authors here)

Because
m_tothe_at always has awesome ideas, I am always tempted to steal them.
And I do. >:3
Here's the challenge:
You send me a 3-4 paragraph TRUE story (no sad ones, please... sad stories is sad.) via snail mail. Leave me random blank spaces either next to or below paragraphs and I will draw out the story as best I can and send it back to you!
I will more than likely scan them for myself and might share them... unless you ask otherwise.
He says it best, really :

He says it best, really :
"Write it out on a sheet of paper, three or four paragraphs, and leave spaces between, beside, beneath, generally around the text. When I get the story in the mail, I'll draw pictures in the spaces to go along with it. If you have certain scenes you think you'd like to see, but I might not personally pick to draw, leave a note on another page for me.
Understand that the drawings may not be that great! I'm not an artist, I just think it'd be fun to do something like this. The reason I ask for nothing sad is because I would feel awkward trying to draw someones emotions when I might not be able to sympathize fully."

SO. If you want to do this, leave me a comment on how to reach you, and I will give you my address.
Now, I might be moving in the next month, so if I've moved from now until then (which I doubt), it might be a hint slower than your usual snail mail. A friend of mine will more than likely be buying my house, so I'll get my mail anyway! xD
